What To Bring
If you registered for indoor accommodations at Jones Gulch,
Bring your own bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets). Note that all beds are twin size beds. The bunks are a little smaller than a twin but fit twin-sized sheets. And none of the beds can be pushed together. You’ll get your room/cabin assignment when you arrive.
If you’re camping or sleeping in your car:
Bring all the camping gear you'll need to sleep outside on the property (tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, ground cloths, pillows, etc.). There are MANY beautiful places to camp, both near activities and in quieter places farther from the action.
Everyone should bring:
- Good headlamp or flashlight (it’s really dark there at night!)
- Warm layers for outdoor evening and early morning activities
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Cup/mug for hot drinks
- Toiletries
- Field journals pens and/or nature illustration supplies
- Camping chairs, crazy creek chairs, and/or extra blankets for sitting on
- Masks for being indoors
Other optional things to bring:
- Musical instruments
- Swimsuit and towel if you’re planning to swim
- Binoculars for birding walks
- Camera with macro features (if planning to attend photography workshop)
Community Connections activities:
- If you’re interested, bring natural history, social justice, and illustration-related books and usable outdoor gear to swap at the Community Connections space
- Pictures, journals, artwork, and other memorabilia from your experience with natural history at UCSC to exhibit at the 50 Years of Wonder exhibit
- Items to share in the Grief and Gratitude space, such as photos, poems, art, memorabilia etc.
- Musical instruments-
- Be prepared for a fun barn dance!
- Bring your phones with enough memory space to take photos and record interviews of others responding to several prompts we'll ask people throughout the weekend.
Additional items/rules
Alcohol - It is okay to bring alcohol in moderation (and only if you are of age). Please note that you must keep any alcohol in your own cooler and that it cannot be stored in any of the refrigerators at Jones Gulch. The camp also asks that we not walk around with open labeled bottles of alcohol. It's okay to bring a beer or bottle of wine to meals, but please do not bring them to any of the workshops or field trips.
Please DO NOT bring any other drugs/paraphernalia with you.
No pets allowed
