Field-Based Natural History Education

Students utilize the meadows of campus for class

UCSC offers many opportunities to practice the skills of natural history. Each year, about 2,000 students deepen their understanding of the natural world through studying and working outside. There are numerous field-based classes at UCSC. In all, UCSC provides field-based classes to more students than any other UC campus. The Norris Center sponsors students in internships, as graduate students, and through various awards. There are also plenty of natural history education opportunities outside of UCSC, including local non-profits and the Santa Cruz Natural History Museum.
