Ohlone Program Docent
The Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History is seeking Ohlone Program Volunteers to lead school tours focused on the history of the native people of Santa Cruz. This tour teaches students about how the Ohlone people used their knowledge and connection to nature to survive. During this field trip students learn by interacting with authentic artifacts and exploring our native plant garden.
Animal Program Docent
The Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History is seeking Animal Program Volunteers to lead educational programs for school groups (K - 2nd) about animal adaptations and interactions within habitats. Docents will lead students in exploring artifacts and specimens in the Museum galleries and participating in outdoor investigations to learn about a variety of local animals from the shoreline to the redwood forests.
Wetland Walk Program Docent
The Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History is seeking Wetland Walk Program Volunteers to help lead school tours through the Neary Lagoon wetlands. This outdoor, experiential program educates students about wetlands and the birds who inhabit Neary Lagoon, and is a fun opportunity to participate in citizen science. Volunteers will work outdoors with education staff, leading small groups of 3rd graders in field trip activities.
Watershed Walk Program Docent
The Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History is seeking Watershed Program Volunteers to help lead school tours throughout the Neary Lagoon wetlands. This outdoor, experiential program gets kids interested in our local watershed, while educating them on the delicate balance of our water systems. Volunteers will work outdoors with education staff, leading tours of small groups of 5th graders, and guiding students in activities such as water quality testing.
