Lagomorpha: Rabbits, Hares, and Pikas

Infraclass: Placentals

Family: Leporidae (Rabbits & Hares)

Rabbits and hares make up the Leporidae family and have a wide geographic range. They are strict herbivores with a complex digestive system to break up the cellulose consumed. They are also coprophagic, which means they reingest their green fecal pellets produced by the cecum, a pouch connected to the junction of the small and large intestines.
